United Kingdom

A UK travel eSIM roams onto EE or Three, the networks with the strongest national footprints. Buy a fixed data bundle if you can estimate your usage, because "unlimited" plans run at full speed only to a daily allowance, then throttle.

When you land
Install the eSIM and scan the QR code at home on your own Wi-Fi, well before you board, so nothing depends on airport connectivity. On landing at Heathrow, Gatwick, Manchester or Edinburgh, turn off airplane mode, set the eSIM as your mobile data line, and make sure Data Roaming is switched ON for that line specifically — it should register on EE or Three within a minute or two.

Common questions

Does an eSIM work in the United Kingdom?
Yes. The UK has excellent eSIM support and travel profiles roam onto EE or Three exactly like any other visitor's phone. You need an eSIM-capable, carrier-unlocked handset. Install the profile before you leave home, then switch it on and enable data roaming after you land.
Can I use the personal hotspot?
On most UK travel plans, yes, and tethering draws from the same allowance rather than a separate one. On unlimited plans the hotspot shares the daily full-speed allowance too, so a laptop pulling large downloads will exhaust it quickly and drop everything to throttled speed for the rest of the day.
How much data do I need for seven days in the UK?
Maps, messaging, transport apps and normal browsing run to roughly 300 to 500 MB a day, so 3 to 5 GB comfortably covers a week. Add several GB if you stream video on trains or upload photos and video at full resolution. Museum and cafe Wi-Fi is common and takes real pressure off the plan.
