When you land
Install and scan the QR code at home on your own Wi-Fi, before you fly. Sofia Airport (SOF) is the main gateway and connects quickly: turn Data Roaming ON for the eSIM on landing, leave your home line's data OFF, and expect to register on A1, Vivacom or Telenor within a minute or two. If you are arriving at Varna (VAR) or Burgas (BOJ) on a peak-season summer charter, clearance can be slow, so having data live before you reach the transfer desk is worth the small effort.

Common questions

Does an eSIM work in Bulgaria?
Yes. Bulgaria places no restriction on foreign travel eSIMs, and the profile registers on A1 Bulgaria, Vivacom or Telenor as a roaming guest. Your phone must be eSIM-capable and carrier-unlocked. Coverage is good in the cities, along the coast and on the motorway corridors, and thinner in the mountains.
Will it work on arrival at Sofia Airport?
It should connect within a minute or two of leaving airplane mode at Sofia Airport (SOF). Install the profile before you fly. If you are landing at Varna (VAR) or Burgas (BOJ) on a summer charter, expect a slow clearance in peak season — having data already working makes the taxi or transfer easier.
Can I use the hotspot to share data?
Tethering works on most Bulgaria and Europe plans, so one eSIM can serve a phone and a laptop, or a car full of people navigating. Shared traffic comes out of the same allowance and drains the battery quickly. On a long mountain drive, keep the phone on the car charger.
